Today we were involved in a bucketload of activities that took patience and willingness to take. We started of the day by splitting into two groups; one which would start off at Hills and Dales Community Center working with the kids in the autism department, and the other group started at Hills and Dales Residence Center workin with the adult and children who would permanently stay at the At the Hills and Dales Community Center we:
  • worked in the autism department/wing
  • play outside (a lot)
  • ate popsicles and drank Kool aid
  • played with the giant parachute, basketball, and bowling
  • observed the different tactics used in the autism department to develop life skills
  • played with lots of bubbles
  • read books to younger kids

At the Hills and Dales Residence Center we;
  • made "firecrackers" out of pool noodles and star garland
  • took the residents that were in wheelchairs on a walk
  • made and delivered pudding for the 8 homes inside the center for National Chocolate Pudding Day

At Eagle Point (an edge overlooking the Mississippi River) we:
  • had a picnic
  • were eaten alive by all the pesky bugs
  • saw a skidoo go through the river lock
  • climbed some rocks (hard core, part core)
  • saw a koi pound

To finish off the day we did a scavenger hunt around Dubuque! Mr. Berendes' team won and didn't have to do dishes tonight! Our scavenger hunt ended with ice cream, thanks to Mrs. Zahn's grandparents for the donation! :)

Looks like it was another fantastic day. I love all the activities you're doing with the residents. The scavenger hunt looked like a great way to see the surrounding area. Proud of all of you.
